Nantgarw Road Medical Centre travel Plan

9 December Practice Manager

A Travel plan has been published which was developed by Opus as part of a  BREEAM Assesment (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method). It sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design and has become the de facto measure used to describe a building's environmental performance. The main overall objective of the travel plan is to reduce car borne trips and encourage the use of more sustainable modes of transport to the new medical centre , including pedestrian, cyclist and publict transport. The plan can be viewed  Here

Changes To Appointment System

4th October 2011 Posted by Andrew Langley, Practice Manager

From Monday 31st October we will be making some changes to the way we allocate doctors appointments in the morning at Nantgarw Road.   We will continue to have One GP who will have a set amount of walk in appointments which become available each morning (bookable on arrival). We will also have GPs who will have pre-bookable appointments available in the morning.

This change will allow patients to plan ahead and book morning appointments in advance, particularly if patients wish to see a particular GP.

We will allow patients to book morning appointments by phone or online up to 28 days in advance, and afternoon appointments up to 3 months in advance ( 28 days in advance if using my health online).

Patients needing a doctor same day will always be offered an appointment if arriving before 11am for morning surgery.

We will run a similar but expanded system when we move to the new building, so this will enable patients to adjust to the changes before the move.

Please Note:  Once all the set appointments have been booked each morning, patients who arrive before 11am needing to see a doctor will be allocated to the first available GP.  Therefore we will not be able to

offer a GP of choice in these circumstances.  We will review how this has worked in six months, and make changes as found necessary. We always take into consideration any comments or suggestions submitted by patients.
